Position: Division Head for the Division of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
The Department of Surgery, Dalhousie University and IWK Health, are seeking a Full-Time, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon to serve as Division Head, joining four other full-time surgeons in the division. The successful candidate will join an active clinical and academic team at IWK Health and the Division of Orthopedic Surgery within Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health. All qualified Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities. Expertise in pediatric spine surgery is desirable.
The IWK is the sole perinatal and tertiary care pediatric hospital for the Maritime Provinces, serving a population of approximately 2.5 million people. It hosts the only pediatric orthopedic surgical program in the Maritimes. This position offers an opportunity to pursue an academic career, with opportunities for funding in both clinical and basic science research, with strong research partnerships available.

The Department of Surgery at Dalhousie University has a progressive Academic Funding Plan to facilitate remuneration of academic surgeons for clinical, academic, educational, and administrative activities.
Academic requirements include an MD degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university and completion of recognized specialty training in Orthopaedic Surgery with certification by the Royal College or equivalent, and a recognized fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery ideally including Pediatric Spine Surgery. Eligibility for medical licensure in the Province of Nova Scotia is also essential.
